A closed gate.
At least we’re honest about it.
ClosedGate is an AI routing layer inspired by OpenRouter, written in C#, designed to sit between your applications and AI providers. It can be run on infrastructure you control, or operated for you as a managed service.
Despite the name, ClosedGate is inspectable, auditable, and explicit about its behavior. Unlike many things with “open” in the name, ClosedGate does not hide who controls the gate, where your traffic flows, or how decisions are made.
The AI ecosystem is full of platforms with “open” in the name that are closed in every meaningful way. OpenRouter? Not open. OpenAI? Also not open. ClosedGate exists to be honest about it: the gate is closed by default. You decide when and how it opens. You decide who sees what.
Key features include:
Every aspect of ClosedGate is visible. There is no hidden control plane. There is no “magic.”
Run ClosedGate yourself. Full control, full visibility, full responsibility. All traffic stays on your infrastructure. All configuration is explicit. All behavior is auditable and versionable.
Don’t want to manage infrastructure? PunkSky operates ClosedGate for you. Same codebase. Same behavior. Same guarantees. No forked enterprise edition. No proprietary extensions. The difference is operational responsibility, not control.
ClosedGate Cloud — coming soon
When it’s ready, you’ll be able to route traffic without touching servers, but the gate will remain yours.
ClosedGate is released under the Functional Source License, Version 1.1.
This means:
On the license change date, ClosedGate will automatically relicense to Apache License, Version 2.0. No approval required. No hidden steps. No surprises.
ClosedGate is for developers, organizations, and teams who:
If you prefer “open” products that are closed in practice, this is not for you. ClosedGate is not a marketing exercise. ClosedGate is software you can trust because you can see it, run it, and modify it.
Some platforms call themselves “open” while retaining control of the gate. ClosedGate embraces reality: the gate is closed. Ownership is explicit. Access is deliberate.
ClosedGate is boring by design. It does not make assumptions. It does not collect data. It does not phone home. It simply routes requests, enforces rules, and records metrics. Nothing more, nothing less.
ClosedGate is built by PunkSky.
We build infrastructure that says what it does and does what it says. Some projects put “open” in the name. We closed the gate and handed you the keys.
This is ClosedGate. You control it. You run it. You audit it. And when you choose, you open it.
